AGMM / AI consultancy

# An AI consultancy that writes the code.

AI consultancy is deciding what in your business is worth changing and whether AI is the right way to change it. AGMM is a UK AI consultancy for £1m to £50m businesses that goes further: we build what the evidence supports and stay until your team uses it on an ordinary Tuesday.

AI Constraint Audit

1. The constraint map
2. The AI opportunity map
3. The economic cases
4. The ranked next step

Yours to keep

Three sixty-minute working sessions sit inside the fourteen days. A fuller audit always follows inside any build proposal.

The commercial terms

## What do you get, and what does it cost? The audit is £2,000, 14 days.

One invoice, one fixed figure and a date it ends. Inside the fourteen days sit three sixty-minute working sessions with the founders who will scope any build. The rest goes on work you do not see: finding the constraints and weak points across every department, spotting where you could save or earn serious money, separating viable AI opportunities from simpler fixes, and building the economic case for each.

You keep all four documents whatever you decide next. A fuller audit always follows inside any build proposal. A free audit is a sales call with a document attached. It has to arrive at a recommendation to build something, because that is the only way it ever pays for itself. Ours is paid, and the fee is not deducted from the build, so we carry no financial reason to recommend building anything.

The four documents are the constraint map, the AI opportunity map, the economic cases and the ranked next step. Each is described in full on [the audit page](https://agmm.co.uk/ai-constraint-audit/) .

Fit, stated plainly

## Who is this for, and who is it not for?

### Who this is for

- A process in an established business is costing real money every week.
- You have been quoted for an AI project and cannot tell whether the price is sane.
- A pilot works in a demonstration and has never reached production.
- You would rather be told not to build than be sold a build.

### Who this is not for

- You want a strategy document for a board and nothing built afterwards.
- You are pre-revenue, or looking for a co-founder or an equity partner.
- You want a licence for an off-the-shelf tool. Buy the tool.
- You need work started next week. The audit takes fourteen days by design.

If the fit call says no, it says so there, free, in thirty minutes.

The order of the work

## What does an AI consultancy do, in order?

Good AI consulting has one first question, and it is not which tool to buy. It is which operating constraint is worth changing, whether AI is a viable answer, and how that compares with every other demand on your capital. Everything after that is building.

1. 01

   ### Find the constraint before choosing the technology

Where does the business lose time, margin or control? We trace the work as it runs, including the workarounds nobody wrote down.
2. 02

   ### Separate the AI opportunities from the process fixes

Much of what looks like an AI problem is a process problem, an integration or an unwritten rule. Naming which is which is most of a diagnostic’s value.
3. 03

   ### Build the economic case for each option

Upside, cost, assumptions and risk, from figures your business can support rather than a benchmark from another sector.
4. 04

   ### Rank the work, then build only what the evidence justifies

A ranked investment order and a scoped proposal for the best option. If nothing clears the bar, we say so.

Picture yours

## What does that order look like on a real business?

The same order, drawn on an ordinary business: month-end close and a new starter, as they run now, organised, then agentified. Choose a stage and watch the same stations change.

Month-end figures retyped into the board pack, new starters waiting a week for logins, and the same questions chased by email every month.

One record per job, person and customer. Each step happens once, in one place, and anyone can see where it is up to.

The repeatable work runs on its own. Anything that needs judgement reaches a named person with the context attached, and every run leaves a record.

### Month-end closeBuilt from the record, not rebuilt by hand

1. **Figures pulled** Copied out of three tools into one spreadsheet. Pulled from each tool on one definition, in one place. From the tools you already use, on the same definition every month.
2. **Reconciled** Matched by eye, line by line, once the figures arrive. One reconciliation sheet, with the matching rules written down. Matched across systems, so nobody reconciles by hand first.
3. **Exceptions flagged** Found late, when the numbers do not add up. Every exception has a named owner. Anything unusual goes to the person who owns it. A person decides
4. **Pack drafted** Rebuilt by hand in the board pack. One template, laid out the same way each month. Written the same way every month.
5. **Shared** Emailed round when somebody finishes it. Sent to a fixed list on a fixed day. In front of the people who decide, on time.

### A new starterProductive in the first week

1. **Offer accepted** The start date lives in one email. One starter record: role, start date, manager. The start date and role, captured once.
2. **Accounts set up** Four emails to four different people. One checklist, each item with an owner. Logins, equipment and payroll set up from the one record, not four emails.
3. **Training booked** Courses found a few days in. Courses assigned by role before day one. The first-week sessions and courses put in the diary before day one.
4. **Manager check** Nobody is sure who shows them round. A short checklist the manager ticks. The manager confirms the plan fits the person. The judgement stays theirs. A person decides
5. **First-week pack** Handed over in conversation on day one. The same first-week pack for every starter. Sent, and logged against the new starter.

Strategy, and what comes first

## What is an AI strategy, and why do we start with the constraint instead?

An AI strategy is a decision, not a document. It is a statement of where AI is worth capital in this business, in what order, and what you will not fund this year. Most strategy work stops before that decision has any evidence under it, which is why so many of them read the same whichever company commissioned them.

We start with the constraint because that is how the decision gets its evidence. The audit traces where time, margin and control are lost, tests which of those an AI system would change, and prices each one against what it would cost to build. What comes out is a ranked list with the workings attached, and that ranking is the strategy. If nothing on it clears the bar, that is the answer, and you keep the documents anyway.

The people in the room

## Who diagnoses the problem, and who builds the system?

The same two people. [Sam Wall](https://agmm.co.uk/about/sam-wall/) owns the technical decisions: how the system is built, how it connects to your tools, how the AI behaves and how it is tested and deployed. [Adam Gillett](https://agmm.co.uk/about/adam-gillett/) owns the process, the people and whether the new way of working is adopted. Diagnosis and build are not handed between two firms with two sets of incentives. The 95% of the work that is routine runs on our systems, and the founders keep the 5% that is judgement. AGMM’s build team writes the code to their design.

The specific claim this page makes

## What can you check for yourself?

We run our own business on the systems we sell. Here are its twelve departments, with the five that run on a system we built for ourselves lit. One of our knowledge bases holds 4,535 notes and every system around it is drawn, department by department, on [Inside AGMM](https://agmm.co.uk/evidence/) . We built them 6 to 12 months before off-the-shelf tools existed. Open the page and judge the work, not the pitch.

### Leadership and decisions

**At AGMM**: Decisions filed in the brain with their reasons. The founders keep the 5% that is judgement.

**Filed as**: Leadership / Decisions log, Board pack, Priorities

**In a business like yours, it runs by itself**: - Board pack assembled from live numbers - Every decision logged with its reasons - Risks surfaced before the meeting

**Still a person's call**: Price the big tender

### What we cannot show you yet

Our own systems prove AGMM can build and run them. They do not prove hours saved, a return on investment or anything about your CRM. Most of our client work sits inside systems we cannot publish, so where a page needs a proof we do not hold, we say so. No client names, no savings percentages.

Boundaries

## What this does not include

- Hardware, licences and subscriptions. Those are yours, bought in your name.
- A guarantee of savings. We cannot evidence one, so we do not sell one.
- The build. The £2,000 buys the diagnostic, and the fee is not deducted from a build.
- Formal legal, financial, tax or regulatory advice.
- A data-protection sign-off. We explain how we handle data; the decision stays yours.

What we do with client data is written down on [security and data protection](https://agmm.co.uk/security-and-data-protection/) .

Three different purchases

## AI consultancy, management consultancy or hiring in: which one are you buying?

*The other two columns describe the usual shape of those purchases, not a named firm.*

| The question | AGMM | Management consultancy | Hiring in |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Who recommends it, and who builds it | The two founders, who own the technical decisions, with AGMM’s build team building to their design. | One team recommends; somebody else usually builds, on a separate contract. | Your new hire, alone, until you hire the second. |
| What the diagnostic costs | £2,000, fixed, in 14 days, published here. | Quoted per engagement. Day rates are the usual unit. | Salary, recruitment fee and the months before anything ships. |
| What you own at the end | Four documents you keep whatever you decide next. | A report and a roadmap, and an invitation to the next phase. | Whatever was written down, and the risk that it leaves with them. |
| The incentive to recommend a build | None. The audit fee is not credited against a build. | The implementation phase is where the margin usually sits. | A new hire needs a project to justify the role. |

The market, sourced

## How does £2,000 compare with the rest of the UK market?

We publish the comparison rather than assert we are good value. The table names the firms, quotes each published figure, links its source and dates the reading, so you can re-check any row. Day rates, fixed diagnostics and retainers are compared as three units, because they are three different purchases.

Questions before a call

## Frequently asked questions

### What does an AI consultancy do?

An AI consultancy finds where a business loses time and money, tests whether AI is the right fix, and ranks what to change first. At AGMM that is a fixed £2,000, 14-day audit across every department, then a build only if the evidence supports one.

### AI consultant or AI agency: what is the difference?

An AI consultant decides what is worth doing and whether AI should do it. An AI agency usually delivers something you have already chosen. AGMM is a consultancy that also builds, so the audit can say no and the build, when it happens, matches the evidence.

Still unsure? [Book the free fit call](https://agmm.co.uk/ai-constraint-audit/#book)

### How much does an AI consultancy cost in the UK?

Published UK prices run from a few hundred pounds for a short session to five-figure discovery engagements, and the day rate is the usual unit. AGMM publishes one figure instead: a fixed £2,000 for a fourteen-day business-wide constraint audit, with any build priced separately afterwards. Our cost comparison page sources and dates what other UK firms publish.

### What is the difference between AI consultancy and AI implementation?

AI consultancy, or AI consulting, is the decision work: which constraint is worth changing, whether AI is a viable answer and how it compares with every other demand on your capital. AI implementation is building and deploying what follows. A consultancy can stop at the recommendation and hand the build on. At AGMM the founders who run the diagnostic own the technical decisions and the build team works to their design, so the people who decide what to build are the people who answer for how it is built.

Still unsure? [Book the free fit call](https://agmm.co.uk/ai-constraint-audit/#book)

### Is AGMM an AI agency?

Not in the way the word is normally used. An agency is usually hired to deliver a campaign or a build that has already been decided, and it is paid for the delivery. AGMM is hired before that decision, to work out whether anything should be built at all, and the audit is allowed to answer no. That diagnostic is £2,000, fixed, over fourteen days, and the fee is not credited against a build. The founders who run it are the people who would scope the build.

### Do you work with businesses outside the UK?

Yes. AGMM is based in Greater Manchester and most clients are UK-led, but the offer is not limited to the UK. Sessions run remotely where that suits, and the audit is the same fourteen days and the same £2,000 wherever you are.

### What if the audit says do not build anything?

Then it says so, and that is a result worth two thousand pounds. The fee is not deducted from a build, so we carry no financial reason to recommend one. You keep all four documents whatever you decide, and you can take them elsewhere or use them to stop.

### Who does the work?

Sam Wall and Adam Gillett run the audit and own the technical route, and AGMM’s build team works to their design rather than as a separate bench you are handed to. There is no sales layer between you and the people deciding what gets built.
